KELPRO BEST STUDENT PAPER 2021

as part of Silver Jubilee Celebrations of KELPRO BULLETIN

Since 1997, through 24 volumes, KELPRO Bulletin has been a leader among scholarly journals in Library & Information Science in India. As part of its strategy to encourage budding LIS professionals Kelpro Bulletin is announcing a call for “KELPRO Best Student Paper 2021”. This competition supports KELPRO Bulletin’s goal of publishing the best articles from the next generation of Library and Information Science professionals. We are proud to recognize the best papers with special awards.

OBJECTIVES

PARTICIPANTS

ü  To encourage LIS students to present research papers addressing, the current trends in Library and information Science.

ü  To encourage the students to understand and participate in professional activities and thereby promote communication, co-operation and unity among the library professionals.

ü  Students include Post-graduate, M. Phil and Research Scholars including PDF, in LIS, below the age of 40 years studying in UGC recognized institutions in India are invited to submit high quality research papers to this competition. Single author/joint author (maximum 2 authors).

v  THEME OF THE PAPER

The theme is Designing Agile and Resilient Libraries for the Post Covid 19 World”. Research paper should address the significant issues facing todays Librarians, Information Scientists and Faculty members on the above topic. Case studies, best practices and pure research papers are welcome. Avoid descriptive papers and compilations.

Theme Introduction: 

Organizational ability is the ability of the organization/institution to  quickly adapt to unforeseen situations. The efficiency determinants for organizational success are Agility, Adaptability and flexibility in Adopting and Absorbing necessary solution suiting to the changed ecosystem, keeping stakeholders into confidence. In the context of libraries, its ability to react to threats and make timely, effective, sustainable changes determining the competency, competitive advantage and the resultant ‘Sustained Success’.

The prerequisites for Organizational Agility include Capacity building, Upskilling, Reskilling etc., going forward to build the Capability and Competency of work force. All the above organizational features and characteristics together contribute to Organizational Agility. Agility entails Resilience to the organization and help its successful sustenance.

The sub themes are given below:

v  Strategizing the library system to face or tide over odds and challenges

v  Importance of Being Agile

v  Importance of Being Resilient

v  Special Information Services in the wake of Lockdown

v  People management during the Pandemic – Staff as well as Users

v  Space management during the Pandemic

v  Technology implementations and applications

v  Measures for infection control

v  SELECTION OF THE PAPER

An expert committee constituted by KELPRO will select the best paper for awards after checking plagiarism. Paper will be judged on the basis of

F  Originality of thought and observation.

F  Depth of research and scholarship.

F  Topicality of the problem addressed.

F  Quality of ideas, research methods, results or argument.

F  Quality of writing and referencing.

The decision of the expert committee will be final in this regard.

v  AWARDS

Three prizes will be given in this competition of the Best Student Paper-2021.

F  First Prize - The author of the Best Student Paper will be honored with a cash prize of Rs.15,000/- a Certificate of Merit and free subscription of KELPRO Bulletin for two years.

F  Second Prize - The author of the Best Student Paper will be honored with a cash prize of Rs. 10,000/- a Certificate of Merit and free subscription of KELPRO Bulletin for one year.

F  Third Prize - The author of the Best Student Paper will be honored with a cash prize of Rs. 5,000/- a Certificate of Merit and free subscription of KELPRO Bulletin for one year.

(In case joint author paper winning the award, the prize money will be shared equally).

The award winning papers and selected papers will be published in the KELPRO Bulletin.

v  PAPER SUBMISSION GUIDELINES AND DUE DATE

F  Length of the paper should be in the range of 4000-6000 words.

F  Authors strictly are students, however they can acknowledge their research guides in the research paper.

F  Language: English.

F  Reference should be given on author date system.

F  Paper should be submitted in Digital format (Email: kelprobulletin@gmail.com) done in MS Word.

F  Last date of submission: 28th February 2021

v  PAPER SHOULD BE ATTACHED WITH THE FOLLOWING

F  A certificate showing the details of enrolment of the student from the Head of the LIS Department.

F  Proof of Date of Birth of the student (attested true copy).

F  Declaration stating that the paper is an original work of mine and has not been published in any journal/book or presented in any seminar/ conference.

F  All documents should be sent to the Editor, KELPRO Bulletin.
