The organization was launched in the year 1992. It was registered under the provisions of the Travancore Cochin Literacy, Scientific and Charitable Society Act 1955 with a prime focus to advance knowledge in the theory and practice of Library and Information Science and promoting the overall welfare and professional status of librarians in 1993 with Reg: No: 389/93.
The activities of Kelpro spanning over more than two decades of stable growth which emulated in the developmental activities, particularly in the publication programme. Since its inception, it could provide a number of services to stimulate the professional passion among the librarians in the State and the country as well.
The organization has also been associating with University Departments in conducting various academic programmes for the benefit of the library community, as part of its continuing education programme. The new challenges that have come in the way of providing quality services, and adopting the current technology, have been adequately addressed through various academic activities.
Our publication, Kelpro Bulletin (ISSN 0975-4911(print) and 2582-497X (online)), a peer-reviewed journal in Library & Information Science has been widely accepted by the academic community in the discipline.
The journal is being published regularly since the launch of the 1 st issue in 1997 and now it has successfully completed 25 volumes. It would be glad to note that the Kelpro Bulletin has been approved by University Grants Commission and included in the UGC-CARE list, considering the quality and consistency of the publication.
